News and Events

British Airways has announced that from May next year they will fly from London City Airport to nearby Bergerac from as little as £49 each way - click here for details.

We have recently started working with a delightful couple, Christian and Christine Dumaux who have been adding to our guests' experience. Christian is an expert on local history and wine and has been guiding our guests around some of the little known but exquisite vineyards and historical sites, whilst Christine has been helping other guests brush up on their French while learning to cook in her fabulous medieval kitchen.

Our wonderful pool is due for a facelift and will be painted this winter. In addition we are going to increase the garden area around the pool by building a deck which will provide more space in which to relax and most importantly more shade.

For larger families or groups wishing for exclusivity, we can now cater for up to 18 guests in one booking as we have the use of our neighbour's cottage, the delightful Maison Bellevue.

Highlights

Canoe The Dordogne or The Vezere
Always popular for people of all ages, a day on either river, drifting past the spectacular scenery and chateaux is something that everyone has enjoyed. Most people have taken a picnic with them but it is just as easy to stop off in one of the beautiful villages on the riverside and try a local restaurant.

Sarlat Market
Probably the finest in the Dordogne, the market has played host to many of our guests who are seen staggering back to Maisons La Boissiere laden with local delicacies. The local history and architecture of Sarlat is also a highlight as are the numerous restaurants in the old town. Takes place on a Saturday and Wednesday throughout the year.

Evening Food Markets
During summer months many of our nearby villages lay on an evening cooked food market, normally in the square where visitors congregate with the villagers and sample a huge variety of local fayre. Very often entertainment is also provided. A wonderful evening out.

This and so much more awaits you in 2016 and we would like to stress that the Dordogne, outside of peak holiday seasons, is a delight. When necessary our Gites are heated with central heating and/or cosy log fires and are perfect for the off-season getaway.

Do please have a look at our TripAdvisor page and if you are thinking of visiting us, book early particularly for the busy summer months. Maisons La Boissiere is part of The Sawdays Special Places To Stay Collection

Current availability for each Gite.

Finally please have a look at a video we shot this year.

We wish you a very happy festive season and look forward to hearing from you.

With kind regards,

Tish & Stuart Inglis
